The Prodigal Gnome

I know I should be blogging about our wonderful vacation this weekend, but something has come up that takes precedence over it at the moment. Something major has happened and I need to share it with all our friends and family that follow our blog and keep up with our families happenings. Watch the video before you read the text below.

Just like Linda Ellerbee, we have the 5 "w" questions to ask our readers....

1. Who took Gerome? We know he did not get up and walk his happy self to all of these fabulous destinations. We have our suspicions, but we will not share. We really really would like you to come forward and end this 5 year joke.

2. What did people think when you were taking pictures of a gnome at all of these different vacations spots?...or....What awesome photo shop skills do you have?

3. Where has Gerome really REALLY been living for 5 years?

4. Why did you feel it necessary to drag this on for 5 years? Don't you have other things to do with your life....or maybe not..

5. When did you decide 5 years was enough Gerome shenanigans?

The Reynolds would truly like to close this case of the missing gnome once and for all.  Would the culprit please step forward and reveal themselves.  PLEASE!!! Give us a call, email, text, a post, anything will do!

Much Love and thankful Gerome is home!

Thomas' Birthday present

I wanted to share the birthday gift that Thomas got this year! I took 3 of his sketches that he has had done in past comic conferences and had them framed. I was praying that I picked the sketches that he really liked; thankfully I got it right. Now he has some more art work to hang in his office so that he can share his "nerdiness" with the students/parents/faculty that come to meet with him. I love you Thomas!! I hope you enjoy your present!

Much Love,
The Reynolds

PS. The blue tint on the top of the frame is from the light in the room, it isn't part of the frame.

Austin Visit

We had a wonderful weekend in Austin with Katie and John.  We drove in on Friday afternoon and returned to Lubbock on Sunday. Here is a small glimpse of the wonderful pictures that John, our photographer, took throughout our visit.

We started out with Addison doing wonderful portraits of Aunt Katie and Uncle John on her Magna-doodle. If you look at the photo, the eyes with circles around them is a photo of John (those are his glasses) and the small sad face is Aunt Katie.
Katie made us a wonderful dinner of salad, rolls, and chicken spaghetti.
ooh...We were so excited about our cherry cheesecake!
After dinner, Addison and Joka really really enjoyed chasing each other around the yard. I think Addison enjoyed it a little more than Joka, ha ha. Sorry for terrorizing you Joka, she really does love you!
This is what humidity does to our daughter's hair. WHOA!
Saturday morning John and Addison went through the drive through to get some Shipley's doughnut holes and then we traveled over to Einsteins where the rest of us enjoyed some delicious bagels! What a great breakfast, we miss these two wonderful bread items in Lubbock oh so much!
We went to Zilker Park to ride the train, the Zephyr. Addison has been really into trains, so this was a perfect activity for her! Good Job, Aunt Katie and Uncle John!
Katie had it in her plans to bring Thomas to the comic book store in Austin. He, of course, could not turn this down. The comic book store was called Austin Books and Comics. He could have spent hours in there, but while in their we took the opportunity for some photos. We were having fun!
This sweet face was trying to sucker Uncle John into the Bobble-head Spider man. Just SAY NO!!
We went here last time we came to Austin and we thought it would be a great "tradition" to come up to Mt. Bonnell (Sp?) every visit and take some photos to show how much Addison and the families have grown.
Katie's plans of some fun water play at the Bee Cave Galleria was pushed down when a band was stationed right on top of the fountains. To make things better again, we decided to let Addison run around for a little bit in the backyard with the sprinkler on. She enjoyed herself, even if she was running away from the sprinkler rather than getting in it.
For dinner we headed a little out of town to a outside bar and grill called, Angels. It was very family/dog friendly with great food. We would definitely call this a regular place to eat if we lived in Austin!
After dinner we headed over to one of John and Katie's local parks to get out the remains of Addison's energy. She had a great time sliding and swinging with Aunt Katie.
On Sunday morning, Katie gave us a boat breakfast! She used cantaloupe to create boats with little masts with our names on it. She also made us a wonderful coffee cake. It was a great way to fill our tummys for the road.

Katie and John, thank you so much for the wonderful visit that we had in Austin. We love you both so very much and we can't wait for our next visit!

Tumbling

Addison has been involved in yet another class this summer.  She goes to a toddler tumbling class every Friday for 45 minutes.  She gets to do alot of gross motor activities and work on some developing skills that she is working on right now.  She does tiptoes, walking backward and sideways, jumping on and off elevated surfaces, walking with hands out on the balance beam, skipping, jumping, crawling (bear crawl, crab crawl), and front rolls.  It is also a great time for listening/watching for directions, playing group games, and taking/waiting for her turn. Sometimes the group of kids that are in their can be overwhelming, but they tend to not last the whole class time and it calms down. I wanted to share some of the photos of Addison in action.
Stretching at the beginning of class.

Ribbit!! What a great leap frog jump!

GRRRR!!! Bear Crawl

Walking on the balance beam with Ms. Heidi

Push over big girl!!!

Tiptoeing through the rings

End of class stretches. REACH!

Happy 4th!

We started out our 4th of July weekend with my mom, and Ronnie and Vicki coming in for the Saturday. It was very rainy, but we made it to Montelongo's for lunch, enjoyed some relaxing and catching up, Kohls's shopping, and then some yummy ribs! We were so glad that Addison could have the whole day to spend with almost all of her grandparents! WE missed you Poppa, Grandpa Red, and Mammy!

Even though it was a little rainy, we had to put Addison in her 4th get up! Isn't she the cutest!?

We had lunch at Caprock, which has really become one of our favorites, and then headed over to our park after lunch to feed "our" ducks tortillas and hamburger buns. Addison calls them her best friends. We have visited these ducks multiple times and have become "good friends" with them. Nana and Addison enjoyed this part of the day alot!

A girl and her duck!
This duck kept coming up to Addison and then pretty much the two of them would walk off together and he was very comfortable with her, not scared at all!

Since the cancelled the city fireworks because of all the rain and flooding of pretty much ...everywhere!! we decided to go and get Addison some fountains, sparklers, snappers, and smoke bombs. We cannot do real fireworks in city limits so this was the extent of our fun! She really enjoyed it, even if it was little.

Happy Fourth of July!

Swim Lessons 2010

We were involved in the Texas Tech Mommy and Me swim lessons again this summer. Addison, of course, really enjoyed herself and we can't wait to do next years lessons! Here are a couple of photos that Daddy took we he came to watch her in action..

She is sitting so patiently waiting for her class to start.
She tells me everyday in the car what toy she wants to get for her lesson.  She has memorized them and has watched what other kids have played with and knows exactly what she wants to use.

Mommy and her little fishy!

We are practicing blowing our bubbles.

This is part of the swim lessons.  Addison has to feel comfortable swimming back and forth between a stranger, in case something should happen. This is Ms. Nicole, Addison's teacher, and Addison has no problem going to her.

Addison is swimming to her alligator.  She does her "ice cream scoops" and kicks.  She did so well with her swimming this year, since she was a little older! Next year she will be all by herself in Aqua Tots.

I think she is a happy camper
Here was are singing "The Wheels on the bus" She loved doing the different songs in the water, especially "Twinkle Twinkle" in the tunnel.

OCD or Practice makes perfect?

Well our little artist has been at it again. She has been working so diligently on her smiley faces. She has been using the PBOP note pads and each piece of paper is the SAME smiley face. She could do it for hours upon hours, if we supplied the paper. I laid out the smiley faces that she did in about 10 minutes and with one partially used notepad. We decided to stop after this and take it up at another time. While drawing these faces, if she does not draw it exactly how she is picturing it...oo she gets upset. She started drawing one and made a dot next to the mouth before drawing it and I could see the anxiety welling up in her face, so I told her it was a freckle and the faces then had an addition of a freckle for the rest of the notepad. Is it OCD? I am not sure..I know I have some OCD issues myself, I hope she didn't get those traits. I am going to say she is just striving for the perfect face!
