Vintage Easter

We had a wonderful time at the Vintage Township East Celebration again this year. We were able to take a picture with the Easter Bunny, 3 and under Easter egg hunt, face painting, and a hay ride. Addison had a wonderful time and she loved being able to spend it with her Mommy, Daddy, Nana, and her Mia and Pop. Now I have to quickly share the story of our Easter Egg hunt and her forceful Mommy.
We stood on the side lines of the egg hunt for a good 20 minutes to make sure we had a spot to race onto the grass for those eggs. While standing there, we had a great chance to scope out some of the eggs that Addison wanted. Right away she saw a good 5 feet away from her a Dora egg. She wanted that thing sooo badly, so I made it my duty to get that Dora egg for her. When that bull horn was picked and ready to give us the 1,2,3 Go I picked her up, put my feet on the tape so I would not trip and told her to hold on to Mommy. When he told us to go, I took a mad dash to that Dora egg and I sure did get that egg for my girl! I felt to happy and we got about 10 more eggs before the ground was no longer speckled with color. I hope she loved it as much as I did!

Autism Walk

This weekend after our trip to Midland, we headed back early so that we could participate in the Lubbock Autism Walk.  Obviously, this is something that is very important to me to support.  I have 8 boys in my classroom this year that have Autism and have had and will have many more children that are affected by this disorder.  As a teacher I have tried very hard to be as involved and informed as I can be with the Autism community that we have here in Lubbock, and going to the this walk and supporting the Burkhart Center (Texas Tech's Autism center) is something I really need and want to do! I decided when getting involved in this walk that I would drag my sweet family along with me.  We had the walk at the Jones Stadium where the Texas Tech football team plays.  They had bounce houses, balloon animals, face painting and tattoos, Raider Red and the Masked Rider, and various therapy vendors for families to check out. After checking out all the neat things that they had to "hang out" at, they began the walk.  It was extremely hot and we were only able to go around a couple of times, because of my daughter's very pale skin (obviously we were not prepared with sunscreen...we were not aware that the sun was going pop out and shine heavily). We had a really great time though and we were able to support a really great event and cause!

The New Pool

Also, while in Midland we were able to have a little fun at Mia and Pop's house, since they have recently added a new pool to their backyard. We were sad that Mia and Pop were not there, but the sure did have a great place to enjoy some great friends and family! We were able to spend some time with Trinity, Diana, and Grace, Tosha and the boys, Mammie, Debbie, Erin, Gaylon, and their new baby Harlan, along with Reba and her boyfriend Micheal. We barbequed some hamburgers and hotdogs and the kids were able to swim...mainly in the hot tub..but the boys were crazy and jumped in the cold pool a couple of times. Addison really loved spending time with her cousins and I think they were excited to see her too!

Sip and See

This weekend we headed down to Midland to see the new addition to the Horsley family, Caleb Wade. They had a little get together so that we could meet and hold Caleb and see the sweet newer and bigger family! It was so great see them! Caleb was absolutely perfect and was very easy going with all the passing around that went on! Big sister Brooklyn got to have a lot of running around time, since Addison was there. We really enjoyed seeing them and can't wait for the next visit.

Sesame Street Live

This weekend we took Addison to see Sesame Street Live: Healthy Heroes! This was such a fun show. We had great seats and the excitement and awe in Addison's face was so worth it! The look that she gave when they first came on, to seeing Elmo for the first time was priceless. I thought I would share a couple of our videos(sorry they are not great) and pictures.

Blue Mine

Meet the new member of our family, Blue Mine.

Last week, while doing our very frequent visits to Pet Smart, Nana was with us. We were walking over to look at the fish and she happened to say, "Addison, would you like to have to fish?" Well, for the rest of the week, Addison has been saying, "Nana you forgot to get my fish." or "Nana can we go get my fish today?" So, we promised Addison that if she was a good girl and listened to us Sunday during the day that we would go and get her a fish. Nana got her a blue beta fish and when we asked Addison what she wanted to name it, she said " blue...mine..Blue Mine is his name" So, we have a new pet named Blue Mine. I just pray that this fish survives. Thomas and I have never really done fish before so it should be a new experience!

It's looking a little gray

Well, as many of you know that last Spring Break while visiting our buddies in Dallas, Addison chipped her tooth (blogged here).  I have had a lot of personal issues (Thomas does not have any) accepting that that is the tooth my daughter will have for the next 4 or 5 years until she loses it for her adult tooth. The pictures, her beautiful silly smile will always show a large chip along with her gap she already has. When it happened we made sure to ask our pediatrician about what to do and if we needed to be concerned and since there was no pain or sensitivity involved afterward there really was no need to take her to the dentist. We have gone a year with no problems and no complaints by Addison, up until now.

We were putting her to bed 2 weekends ago and we noticed that her tooth was in the gray shade, which it had never been before (I am very observant about that tooth, because I look at it all the time), never had it been that color. We thought that it might have been the icing that Addison had from a birthday she had gone to that night and prayed that by the next day we would notice a change in the color. Well, it did not.  To me it continues to get a little darker every day. I have been freaking out, a little bit vocally, and a whole whole lot internally.  I do not want my daughter to be the girl with the gray tooth! Thomas does not think it looks that bad, but I think it is just horrible.

While at Addison's music classes, I decided to ask one of the other moms that waits for her children, who by luck is a Dentist. She shared that blood can travel down into the tooth over time and unless there is pain and the look of a pimple above the tooth in the gum line to not be concerned and that there are many kids that have this happen.  Well, that put my mind at ease a little bit and I have been watching her gum area everyday! I thought we were doing okay and I had read a couple things online and thought, here we go with another cosmetic issues, I can get over this.  Well, today she complained that her front tooth was hurting her and she pointed to the "bad" tooth. Oh man, so now I am on a mission to get an appointment with one of our really great pediatric dentists and hope that there is nothing major to be worried about. My other mission is to make myself stop freaking out about her tooth and not worry about this small cosmetic issue..4 years with a gray tooth...ugh!
