Swim Lessons 2013

The past two weeks, Addison and Avett have had swim lessons at the Texas Tech pool. Addison is in the youth 1 class and ended up with a great class of swimmers and a great coach and they were able to work on primarily all level 2 techniques and a couple of level 3. She really had fun, had a friend from dance with her and even met a new friend. Avett was in the Parent and Me class. He learned how to blow bubbles, enter and exit the pool, scale the wall, kick and scoop, and put his head under water, with help. The first week Thomas and I switched off swimming with Avett and watching Addison. The second week, Thomas was on his trip to Montezuma so mom came 2 of the days with me to watch the kids. It wasn't as fun as in previous years, because we had to go inside the last week because of weather, and it just was not very warm and enjoyable in the inside pool. Oh well! The kids had a great time and they learned some new great skills! We just love that we have two little fishies. We have been able to put our skills to good use going to the Tech pool almost every other day.

4th of July

I know this is late, but I am playing catch up with our blogs!! For the 4th of July, we did our usual Reynolds family morning hanging out by the entrance of Tech to watch the parade. We dressed the kids in their patriotic outfits that my mom graciously made for them! Thank you mom!! They looked soo cute. Avett loved all of the music that went on throughout the parade and Addison was fully involved and ready for any candy flying through the sky! That evening we enjoyed a great time with wonderful friends at the Horsleys. We enjoyed dinner, great company, and some awesome fireworks. We had a really great time and can't wait for next year!

Tie My Shoes

Before Addison, heads off to Kindergarten this year, I really wanted her to learn to tie her own shoes. I do not remember how early I learned how, but I felt that it was important to do this since there is so much more independence involved with kindergarten. We have off and on talked and showed her the past month and a half, but I didn't want to push her too much because I was worried about her frustration level. The last two weeks, I have asked her to go and get her practice board every other day and with practice two or three times each time we have now become independent. On her real shoes, she requires a little more verbal support because the laces are not as long as the practice board, but she does eventually tie those, as well, on her own! YAY Addison!! On a side note, I taught her using the "guns up" method. Always have to do the guns up fingers to hold the laces on both sides and it worked perfectly!...LOL...GO TECH!!

Nelms' Visit

A couple of weekends ago, we had a very great visit from our friends and one of Addison's Godparents, Katie and John. We really enjoyed our low key, catching up visit. We took them to the Tech pool, had a lot of floor time with the kids so that they could play, some time in the backyard in the pool, and some great music time (provided by the amazing John!) We were so happy that they could come and visit and we can't wait to see them soon! Love you guys so much!

Father's Day

For Father's Day, we hope we gave Thomas a nice enjoyable evening, by taking him to the park to hang out, listen to the local adult brass band, and play with the kids. We love our Daddy very much and we are so appreciative of everything he does for our family...which is sooooo much! You are amazing Thomas and thank you for going above and beyond your Daddy duties! You rock our socks off!
