Our Family

Addison created a family portrait yesterday with chalk, while I was cleaning up the garden. I think this is so neat! As a pre-k teacher, we always ask our students to draw more in depth pictures (with self portraits and their families) and to see what they are able to accomplish with their little imaginations. To my surprise my daughter, from such an early start, has been very good at her art work!! I wanted to share this amazing drawing that she did of us (though it is a little monster looking, she has added so much detail to them). Here is the order of the family: Addison, Mommy, Daddy, Finn, and then Mally under Finn.

Boston

Well, Thomas and I had a wonderful time in Boston. We started out extremely worried that it was going to go horribly. We were supposed to get on a plane at 5:50 am in Lubbock. Some engine issue happened and they were not going to let us get back on the plane until 11:00. When we headed back to get on the plane, we ended up not leaving until almost 12:00. We missed our flight to Boston by a couple of minutes,so we had to sit in DFW for another 2 hours. We finally arrived at Logan airport at 7:45. We made it to our hotel in time to make it to a very late, but yummy dinner at the Atlantic Fish Co.
On Friday, we were strictly tourists. We started out eating at a delicious bakery in Beacon Hill called the Panificio Bakery. We had a country bread topped with walnut butter, pineapples, strawberries, and blueberries and drizzled with honey! YUMMY. After breakfast, began our long walk through the Freedom Trail, which is all throughout Boston. It was so great! We enjoyed lunch at Quincy Market and then took off again on the walk. At about 3:00 I started realizing that my ankle was really starting to hurt. I needed my walking stick aka Thomas to help me to the USS Constitution. After that I needed to take a city train back to our hotel, because I could not walk back to our hotel. When we got to the hotel we got ready and headed back to the North End (Italian area)hobbling the whole way there and had dinner and a very tiny restaurant that holds less than 25 people. After, we headed to Mike's pastry to ,have a dessert (tiramisu and carrot cake).
Saturday after we went to CVS to help my crippled ankle, we headed out to the Life is Good Festival in Canton, Mass. We were able to see Eli "Paperboy"Reed, Donovan Frankenreiter, Dr. Dog, Ziggy Marley, and Ben Harper and the Relentless. On Sunday we saw, Ok Go, Brett Dennen, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jason Mraz. It was such an amazing festival that was done for a great cause. They had wonderful organic locally grown food that was inexpensive, lots of really nice friendly people, and wonderful music. We even went and saw Lauri Berkner for a good 5 minutes and then I started tearing up because I was missing Addison and wanted her to see this awesome concert! I was so good up to that point!
We flew home on Monday and we were so happy to see Addy and be home!! Great Great trip and so happy to enjoy the time just Thomas and I!

Tech Cookout, 2010

Well, Thomas had his annual Honors College Cookout in front of the Honors dorm today for the first game for Texas Tech vs. SMU.  Addison and I have gone for the past 3 years to support him and to enjoy some fun Texas Tech fun! Thomas was very happy to have a clear sunny day for the cookout this year, unlike the past 2 years where it has been overcast and sprinkling on and off throughout the day. It was a great turn out while I was there and they had some great shirts to compliment the spirit of the Honors College.  I wanted to add the photos from the event, but I also wanted to add Addy's photos from the past three years. WOW, how much she has grown!!
