Our Weekly Past Time

Every week Thomas, unfortunately, has to mow the lawn. I decided to bring Addison out to see how she would react to the low lawn mower. SInce she does not have any problems with the vacuum or hair dryer, I thought this was the next loud to object to introduce her to. Well, she definitely has had no problems with it. We are actually going out every week when Thomas is in the back and we sit on the chair and watch him. Addison waves, laughs, and smiles at her Daddy and I think Daddy gets a kick out of it too....plus it distracts Daddy from the horrible job he is having to do! It is so fun to watch and I look forward to doing it every week.

My Favorite Pictures from our Trip

The Cliff Notes on Canada

We had so much fun in Canada this past week! We saw lots of beautiful scenery and had lots of great family time. I did not think that you all needed to hear all the details of our trip so I thought I would would briefly share some of our excitement with pictures.

In this picture you see our sweet baby sound asleep! That was how it was for every plane ride that we had. She would fall asleep even before the plane took off and then would wake up with only a small amount of time to go. She was awesome and almost everyone on every plane ride said the same thing, "We didn't even know there was a baby on the plane" and "She did so good"! We were extremely proud.

We had a lot of wonderful family time. We enjoyed and not enjoyed having all three of us sleeping in the same room everywhere we went. We did a lot of holding hands, all three of us, helping our sweet baby walk all over. We enjoyed a nice warm swim in a heated pool outside with very cold weather (Addison loved that). We had a lot of good laughs and a lot of new experiences together.

We saw many beautiful things in Canada from the beautiful Mountains on the drives, the sites from the top of the mountains when we took the Gondolas, wonderful waterfalls from snow melting off of the tops of the Mountains, glaciers, and lakes.

As you can see here, we had to keep very warm while we were up in the mountains and on the glacier. We bought Addison an awesome snow cap or Tuk as they call it up there, mittens, and a nice warm hoodie. We also bought ourselves a hoodie. We really enjoyed the cold weather and Addison really loved wearing her new attire!

(This was Addison's face alot of the time! Everytime she saw something new or neat, she would say OOOO)

Thank you so much Mom and Dad (aka Nana and Grandpa) for the amazing trip!! We loved every moment of it. We really had a great time and we loved having this special trip with you! We/Addison will have such great memories of this.

Oh Canada!

Well, today we are leaving for our grand adventure to Canada. We will be driving to Midland this afternoon to drop off Finn and Mally, then on Saturday we will fly into Houston. Sunday we will fy from Houston to Calgary. We are really excited about this trip, but at the same time we are really nervous and a little stressed about it. This is the longest trip away from home for Addison and it will be the first time to be on an airplane, as well. Mommy and Daddy have had to pack a ginormas amount of stuff for this sweet baby. We have 3 suitcases, a pack n'play, an umbrella stroller, a diaper bag, and 2 carry ons. We hope that we have everything that we need and pray that everything goes smoothly at the airport (seeing as how I have to bring on milk, juice, and food).
Wish us luck and we will have many photos in the upcoming weeks on our picassa webstie for sure and we will probably highlight some pictures on our blogs!

Perfect Swirl

So I know that this blog is very random, but I thought it was too cute not to share with everyone.

So, today Addison and I came back from our Mommy and Me swim lessons and decided that we would play outside a little longer before I gave her a bath. While she was crawling around and playing at her water table I noticed the back of her hair had a perfect little swirl in it. Her hair has been getting curlier every day, but it normally curls and flips out...but not today. So Fun!

Our little bookworm

Addison has been so excited about looking at her variety of books and handing them to us to read to her. She has learned how to turn the pages independently, she has began to anticipate things that are going to happen in familiar books, and will make "comments" on the pictures. She has become very excited over a certain 2 books that Thomas and I have been reading to her lately. The books allow you to be very animated and she will just smile and look at us with excitement when we get to certain parts. She has even begun to turn the pages back to find her favorite parts that she enjoys hearing. (Needless to say I think she is really taking after her Daddy...which he is so excited for. ) These books, I think, would be great gifts to give or if you have a little one of yourown, definitely consider going out and getting them. Both authors also have other great books.

My Little Helper

Ever since Addison has been born, the cleaning that has occured in my house has become minimal and more spread out. It is very very tough to clean a house when an infant is needing your assistance at almost all parts of the day. The parts that are not taken up by their time is often spent trying to take care of your needs such as: sleep, shower, eat, and don't forget work. I have struggled and struggled to find just the right time to squeeze some house cleaning. Well, I no longer have to worry about getting my chores around the house done alone, because I now have a special helper who is a hard worker and never complains about work that is given to her. Here are some pictures of her doing some laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and doing the dishes.

Mother's Day Gift

I have the most wonderful husband!

For Mother's Day I received the most amazing gift I could have ever asked for. I did not receive my gift until last week, because Thomas had the gift special ordered and then it had to be handmade. When he told me this, I was like...okay what could this be? I knew that I had given him some hints on some different necklaces that I really liked, but I was not sure on if I was going to get one or not. Well, it ended up being a necklace, but the most amazing necklace EVER!!! This necklace simply puts exactly how I feel about being a mommy and I how I feel about my sweet baby girl. I think it also simply captures how Addison feels about me as her mommy....I hope! Here it is:If you are not able to read it, it says:"I carry your heart in my heart-Addison"

I love you Thomas and Addison. Thank you for my Mother's Day gift! I could not have asked for anything more special.

I'm So Sleepy

So this past week we have started swim lessons every morning at 9:30 -10:00. We are really enjoying it, but Addison is just pooped afterward. When we drive home she will normally fall asleep and I will wake her up when we get home to take a bath, play, eat lunch, and then try and get her down for a long afternoon nap. Well, my sweet baby had a hard time making it through lunch time on Monday.....

Needless to say, I picked her up and let her crash in her crib! It was a much needed 2 1/2 hour nap.

I can do anything!

So I wanted to share all of the new things that Addison is doing these days! I haven’t given an email update for her one-year milestones and I am so thrilled at how smart our sweet girl is that I must brag! Let us start….

Language and Communication
We have been teaching Addison sign language since she has been 6 months old. We have used the Baby Signing Time DVD’s and continuously using the signs throughout the day, everyday. As she has grown cognitively she has begun to catch on to these signs and understands when to use them to communicate her needs. Independently she is signing: More, All Done, Eat, Water, Hat/Head, and waving bye. On request she is signing: cereal, diaper, teeth, and will wipe her face when I tell her time to wash her face (this is not the formal sign, but it is an Addison sign).

As for her oral language, she has been trying to model a lot of what we have been saying the past couple of weeks and it is actually very clear that she is trying to say the word. On her own she is able to verbalize: Dada, dog, duck, ball, bird, and head

Object/Function
Addison has been picking up on what things are used for and is trying to do more things on her own. When she has a washcloth she will attempt to wipe her own face. We have a hair scrubber that we use the wash her hair and she is now trying to wash her own hair with it, as well, she will get the hair brush and try to brush her hair. She will take the toothbrush and attempt to brush her teeth. Since Addison has tubes in her ears, we sometimes have to use anti-biotic drops in her ears and she has tried to put the dropper in her ears. Addison knows what the cell phone is for and she will hold it up to her ears and make noises. This week she has decided that she is ready to try and start feeding herself with her spoon. What a mess! She is even trying to help mommy do laundry. She will stand at the dryer and take things in and out of the dryer. She also knows that clothes somehow go on your head..lol...so she trys to place different articles of clothing on her head. (The other morning while doing laundry and looked down and she had my bra half way on her head and half way on her neck:-) ...made me smile)

Motor Skills
Addison has not started walking yet, but last week she decided that she was ready to try and start standing up independently. She will push herself up off of the floor and come to standing position and can stand there for as long as she wishes. She is still too cautious to take a step. Soon though! She is able to pick up a large or small ball and will play catch, back and forth. She does really well at trying to toss the ball. Addison’s fine motor skills are great. She is able to do shape sorters, stackers, etc. She is also pouring and filling with water.

WOW!! I wanted to update on those things! Of course I could list millions more, but I know that you do not want to read all of that.

Much Love!

It's New!

Welcome to the new blog for the Reynolds! Since we are so eager to share all of the wonderful and crazy things that are happening in our life, I decided it would be nice to write it down in a blog. This way for those that are interested and would like to read about us can and those that could care less do not have to continue to receive my random emails! I know that Thomas has a blog, as well, but this will update on the things that Addison or the Casa de Reynolds will be up to, rather than Thomas’ blogs on fatherhood. I hope that you will enjoy this as much as I will enjoy sharing!

Much Love!
