Addison's Report Card

Addison has been doing amazing in school! She is reading sooo well, has received a 100 on every reading test that she takes. She normally takes 1-2 a week. We are in awe of how well she is able to sound out words to figure out unknown words and her ability to really comprehend what she is reading.
Here is her report card info:
"On track"  for all citizenship
"On track"  for all Developmental Skills
In Letter knowledge, She identifies all capital and lower case letters and is producing all letter sounds.
In Color knowledge, she identifies all colors
In Numerals, is identifies and names 1-20
In Shapes, she identifies all 2D shapes.
"On Track" with writing name, recognizing compound words as 2 short words, Rhymes, identifies syllables, and retelling a story in order.
"On Track" with sorting and describes objects by variety of attributes.
"On Track" with knowing living/non living and identifies basic needs of living things
"On Track" with distinguishing between needs and wants.

Addison also uses an assessment program for reading called istation. It is a computer based assesment. Here is her information in that:
In overall reading, she is Better than or equal to 85% of students who took the test in November
In listening comprehension she scored a 5 (not sure what that one means)
In letter knowledge, she is better than or equal to 93% of students who took the test in November
In Phonemic Awareness, she is better than or equal to 88% of students who took the test in November
In Vocabulary, she is better than or equal to 77% of students who took the test in November.

At this time with all scores added up, Addison is performing as a 1st grader who took the test in September. I couldn't be more proud. I think many of these scores might be higher if she was more attentive. I know when she does the istation game for practice at home, she gets very side tracked with all the neat stuff it does and I am sure she talks to her friends while playing in the practice rounds. That is my Addison..lol...loves to talk and show what she has.

Next 6 weeks, the class will be graded on all that is above, along with writing letters, building sets, matching 3D shapes to real objects, blend sounds of 3 letter words, break apart sounds of 3 letter words, make new words by changing beginning, middle, and ending letters, leaving space between written words, identify/extend/create patterns, construct and use a graph to answer questions.

Trick or Treat

We had a great time on Halloween. we were able to have our Papa Murphey's Jack o Lantern pizza with delicious Halloween cupcakes from the Cakery. Nana and Poppa got the kids some fun Halloween gifts and then we were off to get dressed for our trick or treating fun. We went with the Alice in Wonderland theme with Addison as the Queen of Hearts and Avett as the White Rabbit. Addison was very excited to tell anyone that open their door, "Trick or Treat...Off with Your Head!". Did she really do this? No, but it was still funny to think about her doing it. We had the Horsley's meet us at Nana's house to walk around the neighborhood. We didn't get a great attendance of houses that were willing to hand out candy this year, but we still had a good time. Addison loved running from house to house with Brooklyn and Avett just loved walking around the neighborhood with independence! We headed back to our neighborhood to take in 3 or 4 houses and then we called it a night. We just love Halloween and we are glad the kids to do too! What will they be next Halloween? HMMM....the ideas are already running through my head!!

Let's Carve a pumpkin

We had a great time carving our pumpkin on Wednesday night. We decided to carve a Cinderella pumpkin, thank goodness Thomas took on that job!! It turned out really good! The kids grew quite impatient and we had a couple cries from Avett because he could not crawl around on the table, but we entertained with some sunglasses and his sister! Of course, we had the overly dramatic reaction for the pumpkin goo and it spilled onto Avett this year, as well! It just cracks us up, maybe one day she will decide she is okay touching it. We enjoyed lighting it that night and then bringing it over to Nana's for the trick or treaters to see on Halloween. We are already thinking of fun ideas for next year! Oh, how we love Halloween!

Pumpkin Trail

We had another fun year at the Pumpkin trail. We even got to hang out with Ashlee and Brooklyn, which was an awesome added bonus for Addison! The girls had a great time and we just enjoy looking at all of the neat ideas that people come up with for their pumpkins!

Moments that make me smile

With our crazy and very fast life, I don't have alot of time to snap the camera like I used to do. I used to take pictures of every single little thing that was done in this house and in our life and it makes me sad that I have not been able to catch that little things that really are so important in our lives. I tried very hard to snap a couple of photos this past month of some of our every day simple activities and I wanted to share them.

For you

For my beautiful babies:

I wanted you more
than you ever will know
so I sent love to follow
wherever you go.
It's high as you wish it. It's quick as an elf.
You'll never outgrow it...it stretches itself!

So climb any mountain...
climb up to the sky!
My love will find you.
My love can fly!

Make a big splash!  Go out on a limb!
My love will find you.  My love can swim!

It never gets lost, never fades, never ends...

if you're working...

or playing...

or sitting with friends.

You can dance 'til you're dizzy...

paint 'til you're blue...

There's no place, not one,
that my love can't find you.

And if someday you're lonely,
or someday you're sad,
or you strike out at baseball,
or think you've been bad...

just lift up your face, feel the wind in your hair.
That's me, my sweet baby, my love is right there.

In the green of the grass...in the smell of the sea...
in the clouds floating by...at the top of a tree...
in the sound crickets make at the end of the day...

"You are loved.  You are loved.  You are loved," they all say.

My love is so high, and so wide and
so deep, it's always right there, even
when you're asleep.

So hold your head high
and don't be afraid
to march to the front
of your own parade.

If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.

You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are.

You are loved.

The Pumpkin Patch

It is our annual tradition to head over to the At'l Do Farms where they have a pumpkin patch. They have hayrides, farm animals to see, a cow train to ride, a mini maze made out of hay, and just a beautiful area to take pictures and enjoy a nice family day. We were able to get one of the "Fairy tale" pumpkins because their  Jackolantern pumpkins were not available out in in the patch. We had a great time as usual!

The next day, since we did not find any jackolantern pumpkins, we decided to head over to a local church pumpkin patch. We have purchased pumpkins from them before, but this year their prices skyrocketed. Therefore, we ended up just purchasing pumpkins at the grocery store, but the church made another great opportunity for pumpkin photos...oh how I love taking pictures of my kids!!
