Pumpkin Trail

We had another fun year at the Pumpkin trail. We even got to hang out with Ashlee and Brooklyn, which was an awesome added bonus for Addison! The girls had a great time and we just enjoy looking at all of the neat ideas that people come up with for their pumpkins!

Moments that make me smile

With our crazy and very fast life, I don't have alot of time to snap the camera like I used to do. I used to take pictures of every single little thing that was done in this house and in our life and it makes me sad that I have not been able to catch that little things that really are so important in our lives. I tried very hard to snap a couple of photos this past month of some of our every day simple activities and I wanted to share them.

For you

For my beautiful babies:

I wanted you more
than you ever will know
so I sent love to follow
wherever you go.
It's high as you wish it. It's quick as an elf.
You'll never outgrow it...it stretches itself!

So climb any mountain...
climb up to the sky!
My love will find you.
My love can fly!

Make a big splash!  Go out on a limb!
My love will find you.  My love can swim!

It never gets lost, never fades, never ends...

if you're working...

or playing...

or sitting with friends.

You can dance 'til you're dizzy...

paint 'til you're blue...

There's no place, not one,
that my love can't find you.

And if someday you're lonely,
or someday you're sad,
or you strike out at baseball,
or think you've been bad...

just lift up your face, feel the wind in your hair.
That's me, my sweet baby, my love is right there.

In the green of the grass...in the smell of the sea...
in the clouds floating by...at the top of a tree...
in the sound crickets make at the end of the day...

"You are loved.  You are loved.  You are loved," they all say.

My love is so high, and so wide and
so deep, it's always right there, even
when you're asleep.

So hold your head high
and don't be afraid
to march to the front
of your own parade.

If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.

You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are.

You are loved.

The Pumpkin Patch

It is our annual tradition to head over to the At'l Do Farms where they have a pumpkin patch. They have hayrides, farm animals to see, a cow train to ride, a mini maze made out of hay, and just a beautiful area to take pictures and enjoy a nice family day. We were able to get one of the "Fairy tale" pumpkins because their  Jackolantern pumpkins were not available out in in the patch. We had a great time as usual!

The next day, since we did not find any jackolantern pumpkins, we decided to head over to a local church pumpkin patch. We have purchased pumpkins from them before, but this year their prices skyrocketed. Therefore, we ended up just purchasing pumpkins at the grocery store, but the church made another great opportunity for pumpkin photos...oh how I love taking pictures of my kids!!

Accelerated Reader

Addison has been very interested in books for such a long time! In the past couple of years we have been working and motivating Addison to attempt some reading on her own. She has become very confident and excited about learning how to read books on her own, and now has become a great beginner reader! At her parent teacher conference in early September, her teacher let us know that Addison along with 4 others in her class would begin a program called Accelerated Reader. This program is designed to promote independent reading practice and monitors their progress and level of performance. Addison is starting on books that are nonfiction and they have been seasonal. Her first book was about Jack-o-lanterns. She read it for 3 days and then was given a multiple choice test. She scored a 100 on it and was so excited, as were we! She has taken another test on Fall Harvest and scored 100 on that one. We are working on book number 3-Warm Clothes. She will take her test on Tuesday. I am soo eagor and excited for more books that continue to challenge her reading skills! Addison also was given a list of 25 words that the entire class will learn by the end of this year. Her teacher wanted us to create flash cards so that we could work on these words at home so that she would already be working on them when it came time for the class to learn them. When we quizzed Addison on her knowledge of these words to know by the end of the year, she only had 3-4 words that she struggled with. We were so amazed and proud of her! YAY for our little reader!!
